Scotland, a first for SF hypnotherapy training

Scotland is receiving accredited solution focused hypnotherapy training with the second course due to start in April 2016 following after the fantastic success of the first course.

David, the Senior Lecturer and course co-ordinator, says “we decided to take solution focused hypnotherapy to Scotland as we knew how much it would suit the Scottish personality”. The accredited 10 month distance learning course has been gathering pace for the last 10 years so it was time that Scotland benefited from thi fantastic training too.

Solution focused hypnotherapy can differ from the more traditional therapies. We like to think of ourselves as modern hypnotherapists and psychotherapists due to our discipline very much working with hypnosis (of course), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) and the latest that neuroscience has to offer the world. With this, we allow our students to understand the importance of moving the client to their preferred future, away from the problems of the past. Now this is nothing new of course, neuroscience has been telling us for around 20 years the importance of working with solutions, not problems, in a persons life. We have succinctly made this into a training package that is both personally rewarding and financially rewarding once you become a trained practitioner.

The feedback from the previous students has been absolutely wonderful and if you would like to see for yourself, visit the website (link at the bottom) and watch the short video of our amazing practitioners in action!

Edinburgh is Scotland’s location for the training within the West End. A fantastic location that allows for the necessary theoretical work but more importantly, the practical work. “We pride ourselves in training hypnotherapists to become confident and competent practitioners and this can only be done with practice, practice, practice” says David.

New Year’s Resolutions in Edinburgh

logo CPHTEdinburgh is a fantastic place to be and if you are looking ahead to a New Year in Edinburgh where a New You is at the helm then have you thought about the benefits of using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to help you to achieve your goals?

Perhaps you want to stop smoking? Or maybe you’ve vowed that this will be the year when you (finally) get on board that aeroplane and get off to the sun – without a care in the world.

Or, maybe you’re deciding that you want to do something about feeling less stressed and that you are looking to become calmer, more relaxed and less snappy? Maybe you want to diet a bit more and take control of what you eat?

David is a fully qualified and insured Solution Focused Hypnotherapy practitioner who is based in Edinburgh. They provide an Initial Free Consultation to explain how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you in achieving your aims successfully.

The therapy works by looking forward to see what small steps you can take to achieve the goals you are aiming at in life. In other words, what you can do to alter your future for the better.

Crucially, we don’t need to explore past events with a client but, instead, focus solely on looking forwards to achieve a positive and bright future for them.

David, who works in Edinburgh, where he teaches hypnotherapy training, says, “By working with someone like myself who is a fully qualified, and insured, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy practitioner then you can have confidence that you can achieve all those realistic goals which you have been longing to do!

“If your New Year’s resolution is to stop smoking then we can help you achieve that aim in a single session, lasting for around two hours.”

“If you are looking for help with weight management then we tend to work with a client for a number of sessions so they can gain control over their eating and so look forward to a healthier future.”

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help in a variety of areas including sleeping, reducing stress and improving someone’s confidence.

“Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in Edinburgh can literally transform people’s lives and help them to go to become calmer, more relaxed and confident in their personal and professional lives and you can learn to be a hypnotherapy practitioner in Edinburgh with the next course starting in April 2016″.

Success through training – CPHT Edinburgh

Building a successful Hypnotherapy practice with hypnotherapy training

Singing up to our Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma training is the first step to becoming a fully-qualified hypnotherapist. In just 10 months you’ll have built the skills to open your own private practice… exciting and a little scary, I know being a former student.

However, the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training course not only teaches you therapy techniques but also how to go about setting up your practice and successfully marketing it. Here’s just a few of our tips to help get you started.

Send a press release to your local paper
If you want to get the word out about your new business (and for free) you can send a press release to your local press. The key to a good press release is to keep is short, simple and finding a good angle. Will your practice be the first in the area? Is it the first to offer Solution Focused hypnotherapy? Something like this will grab attention and make it more likely for you to be featured.

Build a simple website
Nowadays the first place we go to find information is usually the internet, that’s why it’s so important that you have a website for your practice. It doesn’t need to be a fancy affair,  just something that tells potential customers what hypnotherapy services you provide, how you can help them to overcome their problem and how they can get in touch with you.

Ask for client testimonials
Good reviews are proven to drive new business so make sure you get your customers to send you feedback. They will be able to sell your service much more than you ever could by showing potential customer how you’ve helped people over come the problems they face. Shout about your good reviews on your website, marketing materials and social media … which is our next tip.

Create a social media presence
A Facebook page and/or Twitter account is a great way to keep in touch with potential customers. Whether it’s sharing some testimonials, telling them about any promotions you have/events you’re hosting or sharing things that you think will be of common interest it will help to keep people engaged with your business.  Attending a little training from a professional is also a great way to learn and keep you up to date with the ever changing social media platforms.

Stress in business

Stress can be the cause of many sleepless nights and friction both in and out of the workplace but with Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT), you could learn how to deliver hypnotherapy that will help cut down on substantial levels of stress in the workplace. This isn’t just good sense for business, it also has a beneficial effect on employees, staff morale and improve productivity.

David, the Senior Lecturer on the next hypnotherapy course in Edinburgh and a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) practitioners says, “One of the most common areas that people come to see me about is areas of life connected to stress and, in particular, stress at work. You can learn how to help individuals deal with this stress in our 10 month, accredited course starting in September 2015.

Workplace stress can manifest itself in a variety of different ways – not just in the office but also at home and socially.

“There are parts of our brains that are very adept at dealing with the perception of threats and our negative reactions to stress are an evolutionary coping mechanism which might not be helpful in our day to day lives.”

“People who struggle with stress in the office may find they have anger issues or that they struggle with sleep patterns – perhaps becoming insular in their thinking, you can get a real understanding of this on the course through neuroscience and elements of psychology.”

David says Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps because it does not focus on a problem but looks to a series of solutions which help to quickly propel us towards a brighter future.

“A key part of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is the safe use of a trance state which is a natural way to aid in the reduction of stress so that, after a number of sessions, the client can start to feel better placed to cope with life, you will become proficient in delivering this throughout your training.”

Some clients have also found that it helps to improve their thinking ability, productivity and confidence – both in and out of the workplace.

“By emptying the stress bucket, we allow the brain a greater degree for flexibility in being able to think positively, act positively and interact in a productive fashion.”

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can also be used to help to take control over other aspects of our lives, ranging from stopping smoking through to reducing phobias and weight management.

David is the course leader and senior lecturer on the course and is also a fully qualified hypnotherapy practitioner. He is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the prestigious Nationwide Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH).

The AfSFH ensures its members adhere to high ethical standards and on-going professional development to keep them up to speed on all the latest research and techniques being used in both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy.

“Reducing that stress bucket load for any sports’ person is vital as it’ll help their mind to be focused on what they want to achieve and help them to think like a winner!”

How the Clifton Practice Training positively changed my life

How the Clifton Practice Training positively changed my life

Being given the opportunity to be the Senior Lecturer for the first Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) course in Scotland is such a privilege, mainly because as a past student I understand how much the course can positively change your life.

Before starting my career in hypnotherapy I was a Colour Sargent in the Royal Marines for almost 14 years. The time I spent in the Royal Marines was fantastic, it gave me the opportunity to travel the world and meet some amazing people. However after I met my wife and we decided to start a family I realised that I didn’t want to be away from home for long periods of time.

In my last few years in the Royal Marines I was trained in Trauma Risk Management (TRiM), as a practitioner and at a senior level. This provided the military commanders with an early warning system that could be put into place when fellow serviceman or women were potentially suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I have always been interested in people and how their thoughts and experiences affect them in different ways, and the Trauma Risk Management training really reignited this interest. Shortly after I finished the training I enrolled in a psychology course with The Open University, using the Enhanced Learning Credits I gained through my service in the Royal Marines.

I studied independently for 2 years and when I had completed The Open University course I decided to enroll in the CPHT to gain my Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma. After the course I knew that hypnotherapy was what I wanted to do moving forward.

Leaving behind the Royal Marines to become a full time hypnotherapist was a scary thought after 15 years but I can honestly say I have no regrets. I had my own practice as soon as I left, allowing me to focus on all the areas of hypnotherapy I was interested in and also positively take control of my career.

Becoming a hypnotherapist also helped me to do what I truly love – which is building relationships and helping people to make lasting change and positively effecting their life. I’ve worked with many different clients and helped them to overcome a range of problems, including anger, anxiety, fears and phobias, feelings of low, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), smoking cessation, stress and weight management.

In just over 3 years I have built a successful practice, became Practice Manager at the Award Winning Observatory Practice, taught CPHT students in London and Plymouth and I am so excited to be bringing the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training to Scotland.
